The Myanmar Youth Association

Who We Are

We are Myanmar nationals and friends and associates of Myanmar nationals who have come to study, work, or live in the United States of America, and other countries. We consist mainly of the Myanmar youth, with senior members to guide us and advise us. We are an autonomous, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization.

We are volunteer-based and do not have permanent members.

Our Purpose:

We aspire to assist those who need it, in whatever capacity we can. We aim to help Myanmar nationals who have just come abroad to the United States of America, and need assistance in the immigration issues, work issues, academic issues, or just to better fit into the American culture. We believe that education is the key to success in life, and that knowledge is power. Therefore, one of our continuing projects is to collect donated magazines, text books and literature of educational value, and ship them to youth centers, libraries, schools, and colleges in Myanmar. We seek to give humanitarian aid without political or religious implications.

We have a very simple, yet profound motto: "Helping Each Other" . Although simple, it is indeed, a very ambitious goal.

Our Logo:

Our Logo is a green lotus bud. The green color symbolizes youth, and the lotus bud symbolizes high aspirations. The five layers of the lotus bud symbolizes "Pyinsa Bala" - the five strengths of development.

The Pyinsa Bala Concept:

We have adopted the Myanmar development model known in Pali as
"Pyinsa Bala", or the "five strengths" as a literal translation.

Pyinsa Bala - The Five Dimensions Of Development:

1. "Kaya Bala" physical development
2. "Nyana Bala" mental development
3. "Meitta Bala" social development
4. "Bawga Bala" financial and wealth development
5. "Zareitta Bala" ethical-character development
